The blogging experiment

M still considers blogging to be the “indulgence of an individual”. I suppose he is correct to some extent, but I think he is not considering the other aspects of blogging. This blog started out as an experiment, and I am quite surprised that I actually have readers now. I keep writing because

  • I enjoy it
  • it’s good to have a reason to write – and most days I do have something to say
  • it’s something to do at 5:30am
  • I am enjoying ‘meeting’ other people
  • I am still playing with different blogging tools

I have no illusions that I am making some great contribution to the blogosphere like some others out there, but I am having a pretty good time with this so if doing something cause it’s fun is indulgent, I guess I am πŸ™‚

I must be infected by the blogging bug though as I find myself thinking about things to write about during the day. And I am musing over the idea of starting an Australian librarians’ blog (will need input from others I think, a big project).

What would make blogging perfect for me would be if I could actually write, and post, my entries in fountain pen. Yeh, I know it’s completely illogical!

This morning I seem to have a bit of a headache. I didn’t hear the alarm when it went off and only gradually became aware of the radio after a couple of minutes.

Yeah dude I was gonna say – you wake up at 5:30am?!?! Are you insane or an insomniac? πŸ˜›

As for bloggers having delusions of grandeur, check this blog entry:

Not 5:30am, Mooiness, I wake up at 5am. Yes, I am insane πŸ™‚ Read this to find out why.

Ah ok I get the point completely. Wake up early and get all this extra time that you’d never had.

Well unfortunately for me I can’t do it:
1. I need 9 hours of sleep to feel fresh.
2. I don’t wind down till midnight. Tried many things to get myself to sleep earlier (exercise etc.) but can’t.
3. I wake up at 7:30am every morn to go to work so I’m perpetually under-sleeping till the weekend.
4. Saturday/Sunday morns I catch up by sleeping in.

So there’s no way I could do what you do. This reminds of that Seinfeld ep where Kramer says sleeping is a waste of time and he micro sleeps. Hahaha…

Sleeping in excess is a waste of time! And Kramer rocks! ;-P

Yes Mooiness it works for me because I am a morning person anyway. I love having the extra time everyday. On weekends I might have a nap during the day, but I keep to my routine pretty much.
