On our weekly trip to the city last night we went to see what was happening with SuperNova. The shop was closed, with a sign on the glass door saying Under new management; Closed for stocktake. It was dark inside, so you couldn’t see much apart from lots of stacks of books. Apparently ‘a lawyer’ has bought the shop, and is planning to keep SuperNova going. Wait and see, I guess.
We then went a few doors’ down to Tim’s White Dwarf. The range of books is good (the shelves are still being filled!), and they now also have a range of cute soft toys in the shape of microbes. I’m sure it’s been said before, but this would be the only time I would want to get the flu! Or maybe the plague…
I dodgied up the map from this map

White Dwarf have a website up now, complete with a link to a webcam which is focussed on Boris the Dalek. Judging from the posts on the shop’s forum, we all want the shop to succeed! Perth needs a sci-fi/fantasy bookshop!
Update on the early rising experiment: I just lay there when the alarm went off this morning and listened to the whole of Asia Pacific and the first five minutes of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy before I could muster enough enthusiasm to get out of bed. In the end it was the fact that Baubles the Cat was standing at the bedroom door staring at me and making little mewling I want foooooooood noises that decided me. On every other morning of the week I don’t even have to think about getting out of bed. It definitely is a Saturday thing!
