The past week has been so busy that I haven’t had much time to write. I’ve had all these topics floating around in my head, but I think I really need to sit down and work out what I want to say. Thankfully I haven’t had the time to sit down and produce a two thousand word stream-of-consciousness blurt, which would probably be really painful to read. (And probably excruciatingly embarrassing, too!)
I’m still pondering Anna’s meme and wondering what I’m going to write about. Yes, I’m hopeless, but I can’t come up with three things I know that are worthy of writing about. Oh, and I did that slang quiz, and got 18/20, so “You’re a little ripper! You have a near perfect grasp of the colourful gab and can probably make yourself understood in most social occasions, such as Gazza’s weekly Barbie… but I bet you can’t throw a boomerang!”
For the time being, while I get my act together (and wait for this weekend, when hopefully I’ll have some time to sit and write), I’ll point you to the blog of The Rambling Librarian. A lot of what Ivan has written lately has given me a lot to think about. Like what being a librarian is all about, blogging, .. and.. mooncakes!
While we’re on the subject of chosen professions, I have also been reading Random Acts of Reality and being thankful that mine is a relatively unstressful profession, especially when compared to the life of a paramedic. And although you work in London and I will probably never ever need your assistance – thank you Tom Reynolds!
For sheer reading pleasure I have been enjoying Greek Tragedy. As the author herself says, “Oy!” Another blogger whose writing I admire.
And that’s just the blogs! I have recently discovered Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series, which is wonderful! I love that feeling you get when you read something for the first time and realise you have found a gem. It’s like that first date feeling when everything is new and the possibilities are endless… pity it doesn’t last forever. Thank your Dad for recommending it, MR – thank you Mr Robinson!
