I’m the grip of severe procrastination at the moment, brought on by the fact that I’m trying to write my paper. I’ve been collecting data (thanks to everyone who responded to my survey), reading (I have 97 references at this stage!), thinking, and making notes for ages and now that I have the go to write, I’ve frozen up. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised – this is how I usually react when I have to write something proper. In my head, it’s not the same as blogging – I seem to be able to write quite easily when it comes to this blog.
Things I’ve been doing to procrastinate:
- Add references to EndNote
- Wander in and out of M’s study to see what he’s doing on his computer (he’s been playing EverQuest 2 for the last month or so)
- Make and drink cups of tea. Cook pappadums in the microwave. Wash dishes.
- Wake Baubles the Cat up; she’s sleeping scrunched up in a blanket on a chair in the lounge room
- Listen to Schubert lieder and try and decipher the German lyrics (I can’t)
- Read the Australian Little Oxford Dictionary that’s sitting on my desk. Must. n. grape-juice before end of fermentation; new wine. [Ah HA! That must be where the Must Wine Bar got its name! The reference was wasted on me, obviously] Great words: dirigible, doppelgänger, lascivious, retroussé, zephyr
- Play Civ 4
- Play with Writely and wonder if EndNote will plug in to it. Although, maybe RefWorks would be a more logical bibliography manager to work with an online word processing app?
- Check Bloglines and email; do I want to IM someone? (Decide against)
- Think about what to have for dinner this evening
Back to work and back to my regular routine tomorrow. Blogging has been irregular for the past few days because I have been having a lovely lazy time with no deadlines or schedules.

Hello! A note to introduce myself. I only discovered your blog and now have it on my bloglines. 🙂
I can relate to this procrastination thingie. I am a copywriter and procrastinating is what I do, and it’s particularly serious when I have deadlines for big projects. Somehow I just don’t want to start or I start and stop. I just seem to be paralysed by the thought of the deadlines. It is not good for what I do for a living. Anyway, to help myself feel better, what I do is to form my words in my mind while I cook, wander in the house and do other silly things that I do, when I procrastinate.
Oh, hello JL, thanks for your comment. Always good to know I’m not the only one with this paralysing procrastination! And how nice to make the acquaintance of a new reader and fellow blogger 🙂
I look forward to reading your blog – love food blogs (one of my favourite pastimes is reading food blogs while eating lunch at my desk ) and always enjoy reading descriptions and looking at pictures of food. Your pan fried tofu looks divine!
hello cw

Greetings C. Heerschop
Hello C. Heerschop! May I clarify, are you looking for RSS feeds from libraries related to the business disciplines (such as economics, management, accounting, etc)? Or are you looking for RSS feeds on librarianship?
Feel free to email me if you would like to discuss this in more detail. My email address is flexnib@gmail.spammersrcockroaches.com. [Please delete the word “spammersrcockroaches” for my correct email address 😉 ]
