Some favourite things

Inspired by this blogger’s favourite things around the house, here are some of mine:

Mini Daibutsu
A much smaller version of the Great Buddha of Kamakura. M bought it for me the last time he was in Sydney. It’s sat on my desk at work, and is at home at the moment. So serene.

Cookie jar
M’s Mum gave me this wonderful cookie jar a couple of Christmases ago. We try to keep it well stocked with biccies. It could almost be a sculpture of Baubles the Cat, couldn’t it?

Wooden cat
A gift from Cherryripe, from years ago.

Ebony (?) elephant
The Boss climbed Mt Kilimanjaro last year, and brought us each a carved animal as a souvenir.

Pillow box
Another gift from M’s mum, from last Christmas. I don’t lie on it though. It sits on my desk and holds my pens! Some pen collectors would be horrified by the fact that I just pile all my pens in the box, willy-nilly – the pens could get scratched – but I use all of my pens and they probably get scratched and worn from daily wear and tear anyway, so I am not overly precious about them.

Elephant troupe (there’s a theme here!)
Some years ago, M asked me what I wanted for my birthday, and I told him “You riding a unicycle in a tutu, leading a trio of elephants!” So that year I got three elephants for my birthday – a fluffy one, a stone one, and a silver one. The three elephants now reside in different locations around the house, and I wear the silver one around my neck, often. M wasn’t riding a unicycle then (did I have any inkling he would be a mad unicyclist now??), nor was he wearing a tutu.

I love your Kilimanjaro elephant. Have just tried to think of favourite things in my home, but couldn’t come up with anything. Nothing that i really really really love. Maybe it’s a symptom of having moved too much over the years. If i had to choose… hmmm… thinking…

He’s gorgeous, isn’t he 🙂 The Boss also brought back carved hippos, giraffes, and lions, but I love elephants.

You must have something that’s a favourite?!
