It has been an eventful weekend. Sirexkat and I got ourselves some webhosting, registered a domain, and set up not one, but two blogs. (This seems to be something I am saying a lot these days – not one, but two!)
I’m quite impressed by how simple the process is once you’ve given the hosting site your credit card details. It helped that we chose a host that already provided WordPress as blogging software, so it was literally a one click installation. The fun started when we looked at themes and plug ins and started considering what categories we would have.
Thanks to M and S for their patience and forbearance on Friday night while Sirexkat and I sat around and thrashed out all the issues philosophical, technical and spiral (we kept going round and round in circles). Thanks to M for giving up our usual Friday night date, for helping clear up one or two difficult issues yesterday and for all the cups of tea and Milo to wash down the lovely date slice. And thanks, Sirexkat, for dinner on Friday, bringing the date slice, and all the great ideas, and for being my partner in crime π
The first blog, librariesinteract.info, we hope becomes a group blog for Australian library folks. The second, Let’s Blog Click06, we’ve set up as a place to to blog the September conference, and to collate whatever gets blogged for the conference. Both blogs still need some fiddling (e.g. their RSS feeds don’t work yet!) but I will keep working on them over the coming days and weeks.
I think it’s going to be an interesting few weeks ahead for me, and I hope for any other Australian librarians who care to join us on the blogs. I’ll still keep blogging here, though – I find myself strangely attached to this blog.

Many things become simple when you give people your credit card details!!
Thanks to M and S for containing their bemusement enough for us to feel like it wasn’t a wildandcrazy idea.
I enjoyed working with you….smooth, fun and productive..what more could we want?
As for continuing to write here, you do know that WordPress can import the entire contents of this Blogspot blog into a new blog right? π
Congrats, guys!
Congrats on the new blogs! WordPress is soooo cool! And in many ways very easy, but also very time consuming!!
Anyway, just wanted to say that I’ve loved your recent posts on here, and I’ve had lots of thoughts and comments, but I just haven’t found the time to say anything, because it’ll turn into an essay!
So, just wanted to say, great posts, really enjoyed them!

I’m planning my own personal blog too, so I can ramble on about blogging too! Still busy getting the Kids Blog up and running now!
seeya Wednesday?

Congratulations on the new blogs. I’m sure you’re going to have loads of fun. And WordPress is really easy to install and use. Just don’t overdo the plugins. π Remember to activate Akismet, the anti-spam comment plugin.
Likewise, Sirexkat π
I know, Mooiness, but I kinda like it here so I don’t think I will be moving for a while. Besides, this helps me keep my work stuff and personal stuff neatly compartmentalised. (That’s the theory, anyway…)
Cheers, Jon!
Thanks for the kind words, Simone. Where’s your new blog? Will try and be there next Wednesday, but I’ll be launching one of the new blogs with Sirexkat that evening. See how I go, if I’m not completely talked out, I might pop in π
Thanks Isaak, and thanks for the plug on your blog too. As for WordPress anti-spam, I’m using Spam Karma – is Akismet better?
