In contrast to last weekend (when sirexkat and I set up a couple of blogs!) this weekend has been a quiet one. I’ve been catching up on reading blogs (and books). I’ve been enjoying being a bit slack as well – getting up late (well, at 7am instead of 5am), and generally just lazing around doing not much of anything.
Have you been following ProBlogger‘s One Question Interview series? He’s been asking the question: ‘What would you do differently if you had to start your blog again?’
Well I think I would have started far earlier! I’ve had such a ball with this blog, and learned so much, these days I can’t imagine not blogging…
I like what Gina Trapani (of Lifehacker fame) has to say: “I would have: …never assumed no one would ever read it.”
What would you do differently if you had to start your blog again?

I would have bought the domain name and had a spiffy design from the get go but back then I didn’t know if I was gonna persist with it, and I didn’t know a designer whom I’d only later meet (YC) through blogging!
Am glad that most of my readers moved along with me though.
What about you? 🙂
More nude pictures of TP. Less nude pictures of me =).
Mooiness I am kinda glad I didnt buy a domain first up – mainly because even now, over a year later I still have no clue what I would call my personal blog!
Skribe: NOOOOOOD PICS??? What!? and I thought you were a family blog!
Each time I started a new blog I told myself the golden rule – focus (and stop posting entry about what I think of last night’s big brother).
Focus
Focus
Focus
I think I am getting there!
CW: Family nooodity. Not a prude are you? Here’s a nudee pic =)
hoi: there’s nothing wrong with blogging about BB. The wrongness comes in watching the mindless trash in the first place =).
mooiness: how have you handled the spam and ddos situations? They’re my main concerns about moving from blogger.
Hoi, posting about Big Brother may be a worthwhile exercise, if it helps you exorcise the demon of reality tv… (sorry, I am not a BB fan!)
Skribe, not a prude by any means, but I just had particular images of your blog and nood pics didn’t fit. But now I can see that they do fit…
Oh, and as for spam, Skribe, I am very impressed by WordPress’s anti-spam solutions. I worship at the altar of Spam Karma!
Unfortunately, CW I have a friend that runs his site under wordpress and it is constantly falling over due to ddos. The sort of ddos that only a moderate arab who antagonises both extremes of the middle-east spectrum can achieve. While we’re unlikely to draw that sort of ire it is nice to know what could happen under that sort of test.
Ah, I see.. what would a webhost do in that sort of situation? Can they assist at all?
Anyone that has a big enough pipe and enough redundancy could assist. I just bauk at the idea of paying for a service that I essentially get for free now. I have considered moving. It’s just that leaving blogger just doesn’t have enough benefits to warrant the hassles (be they in time, money or both).
Yes, I know what you mean, Skribe. Blogger works pretty well, after all. I like it!
