Five ways in which I procrastinate:
1. Blog reading
It’s amazing what Bloglines can throw my way when I need to avoid whatever it is I need to avoid. Although it (Bloglines) does seem to have been playing up a bit lately – a few regularly updated blogs aren’t showing up as having been updated. I get suspicious when I realise I haven’t seen anything new from a particular blog in a while, go direct to the blog, and voilà ! find that it has been updated, Bloglines just hasn’t displayed the fact.
2. Web surfing
I’ll include this because for me it is different to blog reading – going through my ancient list of bookmarks and seeing what I can find. Either that, or reading stuff using my bookmarks of newspaper sites and making myself amazed/cross/upset at The State of The World.
3. Game playing
Usual something simple like Spider Solitaire or Minesweeper. For variety, crosswords or Sudoku. For serious procrastination, something involved like Civilization 4 or Sid Meier’s Railroads. If I’ve given up altogether on the pretense that I need to be doing something else, WoW.
4. Reading
I often re-read things – or read something I know will be very simple – like something by Enid Blyton… Like Ampersand Duck (from whose blog I got this memey list) this would have to be my oldest form of procrastination. Items 1 and 2 derive from this love of reading, I guess.
5. Napping
This is the ultimate. Luckily I only do this at home. It is sometimes tempting to do a George Costanza and make a bed under my desk, but I have never stooped that low.
Steve Pavlina has a good article on overcoming procrastination. I’ll read it… later. (Sorry, bad joke!)

I hate it when Bloglines doesn’t keep me up-to-date with all my blogs and I have to go and seek them out! I’ve really come to rely on it.
Hi Alison, I don’t realise how much I rely on Bloglines until it’s down.. scary!
it looks like you haven´t heard about the latest in sudoku, there is now something new out for two players, it´s called SHENDOKU, you can find more information on http://www.shendoku.com , the online game is a trainingprogram on http://www.lightningbrain.com/shendoku.html and they also have a blog http://shendoku.blogspot.com/ , it seems that they are bringing out a shendoku game for the mobile phones to be played between two players, through bluetooth, infrared or sms.
Uh oh (more distraction) .. I mean, thanks, anonymous 🙂
