At Barcamp on Saturday the last session I attended was Silicon Beach, which was a brainstorming session on how to get Perth “on the map”, or in the collective awareness of the geeksophere, and the major developers (Google, Microsoft, etc).
What about Podcamp? Richard Giles just told me about Podcamp, which is
an event which is organised by people who work with and are passionate about newmedia.
podcamp is FREE TO ATTEND
podcamp cover the topics:
– podcasting and blogging
– newmedia development and startups
– business newmedia marketing
– social networking
– emerging technologies
– creative social media (music and art)
– using newmedia content
They are currently running a poll on their site, asking people to “stake their interest” and vote on which city will get to hold Podcamp.
At the moment this is the tally of votes:
1. Sydney 45%
2. Melbourne 28%
3. Brisbane 22%
4. Adeliade [sic] 5%
5. Perth 0%
(as of 9:52AM EST 28 June 2007)
Perth people if you think we should host this Podcamp, GO VOTE NOW!

Hmmm looks like a shoo-in for the city of sin, doesn’t it.
Might have to put some pennies aside for that one. Thanks for the heads-up, CW, your reports are terrific.
Gen, VOTE PERTH then you can come and visit us mob 🙂
VOTE PERTH!!!!
Thanks for the heads up. I’d better make sure Perth doesn’t get ahead of Sydney 😛
