25/8?

As seen on Orange Crate Art this morning, the more biggerer notion of being “On call 25/8”. The idea of being on call, or working, 24/7 (no one could pay me enough to do this!), is horrific enough, but 25/8?? I suppose the idea of being alive 25/8 might mean that one is making the most of life, but to me a full life means that work is part of a balance and shouldn’t take up practically all of one’s time.

In other news, hoorah for Doris Lessing! Must read more of her work

Update, lunchtime: Thanks, Bibliobibuli for the links to write-ups on Ms Lessing!

25/8? That’s just silly, and physically (pun intended!) impossible. I proudly include quite a lot of sitting about doing nothing measurably productive in my life, and am healthier for it. And absolutely, kudos to Doris Lessing. Another author, like Iris Murdoch, whose work I really must sample…

Hi Sheena, I agree – I love spending time doing literally nothing ๐Ÿ™‚ (sitting and gazing at the sky, or napping, or people watching…)

And if your work promotes such a thing what are you doing to those people who use your services. Perhaps if we don’t have the option to use those services the life of the customer (and ours) would be more balanced? Is it socially responsible? Questions like that should be asked I think. ๐Ÿ™‚

Someone made an awful joke on the new Micallef show the other night about Pervez Musharraf saying the elections in Pakistan were not rigged, why, 298% of the vote had been collected. Same idea I reckon.

Hear about the kosher vending machine? It’s available 24/6.
