I never realised dogs could love the sun as much as Paco and Peppi do. This winter they have really enjoyed the sunny days, Peppi especially. If we are slow to put their beds out in a sunny patch she will go and lie there on the bare brick.
Favourite smell this winter: Sun toasted chihuahua.
Least favourite smell: Decomposing rat. They get up into our ceiling and die. This causes the house to have the delightful smell of putrefaction, at least until poor M goes up into the ceiling and retrieves the carcass(es).

mmmm – sun is good. am enjoying the bits we’re getting at present.
Rat is not so good. I remember a decomposing lizard that the cats brought in and left under the lounge causing similar problems. Took us a while to find it!!
Hi Penny, yes the first time a rat died in the ceiling we had no idea and no clue where the smell was coming from. The drains? Something Paco had dug up in the garden? The neighbours?? It was a real relief to find it, even if it was utterly horrific…
Yes, Fudge enjoys being toasted by the sun too. This spring her favourite perch has been on top of the hot water tank which is in the sun – warmth from below and warmth from above!
They’re lovely aren’t they 🙂 Me, I just wish I was small enough to fit so snugly in the warm spots.
