Glad to see that there’s some interest in forming a salon here in Perth. You never know if an idea is going to fall flat, but hey, always worth putting it out there. (See, blogging is good for defeating that darn inner critic – ‘no one cares, no one’s interested, who do you think you are anyway??’ – yes, I did have a moment’s hesitation before posting last night’s post. I’ve learned to look at the prickly beast, then move past it – quickly.)
Still thinking about what I want out of this. I don’t really care if it’s not all library-focussed, to be honest. But probably I’m jumping ahead of myself a bit at this point. We’re going to have to meet first 🙂
“Education is inherent in the salon process. When you listen, you learn. Contact with a diverse group provides access to a wide range of information. Pooling and discussing information lets you test, expand, and alter your storehouse of knowledge and opinions. The creative, often humorous interplay of ideas yields unexpected insights.”

So. If you’re interested in this salon thing, could you email me? flexnib at gmail. Just so we can get a bit of planning going. We could try and meet in the next 2-3 weeks or so. Striking while the iron’s hot, and all that.

Putting my hat into ring as a participant in Salon number 2. I won’t be available until Semester 2 starts… but I think Salon number 1 should definitely happen before then 🙂 Good luck!
Oh why not? count me in 🙂
