Out of practice

This morning I had coffee with a colleague who was in town from Canberra. It was delightful to catch up in person again after almost three years!

I’m going to be travelling again soon and the whole rigmarole around the process of travelling is all coming back to me very quickly. It’s funny what you get used to, and also funny how quickly you forget once you stop doing something regularly.

Pre-pandemic I used to travel a bit each year, for work. Now, I think those old days – of flying to another city and staying overnight for a three hour meeting – are over. We’ve all realised that there are many things that can be done quite easily and effectively online and we can save a lot of money and time and not to mention reduce our carbon footprint if we are selective about the meetings and events we do attend in person. This will make in-person events a lot more special, I think.

No doubt I’ll get back into the swing of whatever this new thing is, quite quickly.
