New toy

M’s got a really cool new toy at the moment. It’s a super huge 24″ monitor that makes my monitor look miserable. It arrived from over east on Tuesday. There it is on M’s desk.

It’s a Dell, and is supposed to be pretty good as these things go. Let’s see, it’s a 2405FPW 24″ UltraSharp Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor Super High-end Wide Screen Flat Panel monitor with Digital DVI-D/Analog S-video/Composite inputs. (Ahh, who am I kidding, I can never talk technical specifications in a convincing and authoritative manner: the Dell site gives you a look at the specs in more detail.)

See how the monitor dwarfs the keyboard! Things look small good on it. I’m not letting myself want it too much because it’s too pricey (I could want it if I let myself)!

And here’s M doing one of his favourite things – playing World of Warcraft.

We stayed up last night (well, I stayed up – til 11pm! I don’t think that’s late by M’s standards) watching U2 Go Home: Live at Slane Castle on dvd, on the PC. I hadn’t watched this DVD before – very good show.

I feel a bit sluggish at the moment, but nothing a strong cup of tea can’t fix!

It’s a beautiful day, the sky falls
And you feel like it’s a beautiful day
It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away

Whoah what a screen! BUT you also forgot to mention the speakers! Imagine playing games with those. If you don’t get “immersed” then I don’t know what you can get immersed in.

Ya the speakers are great too. They’re old news though 😛

The speakers are a logitech 4.1 surround sound system with the front 2 speakers replaced with some ‘larger’ ones. The sound card is an Audigy 2 🙂 I am using a X800 pro for video output.

The immersiveness while gaming is excellent! 😀

oooh! Geek alert!
CW, in my experience there is nothing to stop you from simply moving the screen onto your desk and annexing it thus. When questioned, say that Baubles the Cat did it, and Baubles the Cat knows best.

Israd, the experience is so immersive sometimes that if M is playing a particularly scary game and I manage to creep up on him silently, I can give him a big scare! 🙂

Anna (intint) it is very tempting…

That screen is more like a desk, an entire workspace with different pages open beside each other. It is like switching from writing on a clipboard to having a decent size desk of your own. Wow.
