What a weekend

It just doesn’t seem right that I have to go to work today. It’s a public holiday but not a university holiday, so us poor suffering university employees will have to make the long trek in over emptyish roads this morning.

Not only is it a public holiday, but I feel like I still need some time to recover from the mega weekend. Being Dad’s 6oth birthday, we had houseguests – Cherry and Mister were here from Over East to help celebrate (you guys are always such good houseguests, and tell Mister that the memory of his Little Britain impersonations are still amusing me this morning! πŸ™‚ ) – and lots of wining and dining and visits and general catching up to do. My system will probably need all week to recover from the three varieties of cake (black forest, pandan, baked cheese), two six-course dinners, wonderful Little Creatures beer, and the cooked breakfast!

As usual, I either forgot the camera when we went on various outings, or got myself seated in a cul-de-sac so that movement was severely restricted and phototaking all but impossible without causing much upheaval.

And finally, in the midst of all the social to-do, I’ve gone and started playing World of Warcraft again after a three month break. M and I were sitting around at home waiting to hear if the systems at work were going to meltdown any further (there was an IT ‘outage’ at work over the weekend, and M had the good fortune to be on call), and it seemed like a fun thing to do at the time. (If you’re on the Silver Hand server, look up Sigrid the orc, hunter. If this doesn’t make sense, don’t worry, it shouldn’t, unless you have ever played a MMORPG before. Hmm… maybe this is a topic for a post some other time.)

Thank you again for having us to stay. We had a fantastic time. Hope Baubles has forgiven us for taking her room/bed! πŸ˜‰

You’re welcome!! M and I both always love having you guys over πŸ™‚

As for Baubles, she is normally barred from the guest room anyway. It’s M’s study when we have no guests, and he doesn’t like her rolling around on his stuff. So she was just being contrary because she knew you guys were in there! Now that things have gone back to ‘normal’ she has mostly lost interest in the room…
