Holiday pause

I think this break is the longest I’ve gone without blogging. It’s been good to have a break, although I must confess to having observed the festivities while thinking vaguely about how I would write about them, if I felt so inclined. (You’ll probably be relieved to know that I don’t feel inclined to write about our families’ Christmas celebrations. They were pleasant and uneventful. Enough said. I hope everyone has had a good celebration/break, too.)

I’ve really been having a break, because, apart from not blogging, I’ve also been sleeping in – until 6am! – and letting myself do whatever I feel like. Mostly, whatever-I-feel-like has involved much reading (amusingly, I am not reading anything on the list I drew up pre-holidays), game playing (Civilization 4 and World of Warcraft), jigsaw puzzle solving (M gave me some challenging ones for Christmas!) and lazing around watching downloaded telly.

M’s out watching King Kong at the moment, with a friend, P. I have had almost no desire to watch this three-hour extravaganza, and when P asked if M wanted to see it, I persuaded him that it was far better for him to go with someone who wants to see it, than with someone who is merely indifferent to it. My lack of interest has probably perplexed M, as I can usually be guaranteed to be interested in the same movies he’s interested in. It was very amusing when P called his wife at home and asked if she wanted to come along to the movie, and her reaction was exactly like mine: “Why would I want to see a movie about a giant ape??” Maybe it’s a female thing.

I think if the damsel in distress was Brad Pitt or someone along that line maybe that would attract the gals?

Good, another one 🙂 Hope your break has been good too Cherry.

Israd it’s not about the damsel (I don’t particularly like Brad Pitt either) .. it just seemed like it had a weak premise, and the fact that it was three hours long just made it too much to put up with. I’m glad I didn’t go, M came back and said I would have been bored, and he and P only managed to enjoy it because they liked the effects.
