Finished…

ALL DONE! (At least until the reviewers’ comments come back.)

Yesterday was a weird day. I just sat at my computer and forced myself to get the words out, from around 6am until around 5:30pm. Submitted both papers yesterday evening. (Only now, I’m wondering why on earth I rushed the second paper, because I don’t want that one peer-reviewed. It’s just a report of what we’ve done with our wiki. Never mind, it’s done.)

I’m now in a sort of dazed state. I think I’d gotten so used to having that I should be writing feeling always at the back of my mind, now it’s done, there’s a sort of emptiness there. Maybe it will help if I think of it as that relief you get when some horrible background noise – like a jackhammer outside your office window for the last three hours, or a CPU fan struggling on a 40° day suddenly giving up the ghost, or no traffic outside the house when you suddenly wake up at 3am – when that noise just stops and you can hear yourself think all over again. Only problem is, I have been thinking about my writing topics for so long, and now there’s nothing there.

Today, the first day of a fortnight’s holiday, has been completely lazy. I lay in bed until 9:30am – reading (finished Murray Bail’s Eucalyptus) and dozing – and have been playing Civ 4. Now I think I might go and get a Macca’s sundae. On the theory that it’s so sickly sweet it will cure me of wanting sugar for the rest of the holidays.

What shall I do for the next fortnight?

Erm nothing but rest and relaxation? Give your brain a break. 😉

Go to Margaret River for a couple of nights for a change of scenery. It’s so green and beautiful there.

you’ve done it! congratulations!

Well done. I’m writing content, content, content here. Got a spare definition of a blog or a wiki, aimed at librarians lying around in your head??

Suggestion for meme of the week?

Idea of how to relax and forget about. Relax. Enjoy. Ruminate on the more chocolatey and delightful things of life

Naaahhh, you don’t want to laze around doing nothing.

a.) Boring
b.) After two weeks of nothing, you’ll wonder what happened to your holiday.

So, go do something fun and random and work off your nervous energy. Have an adventure! And end up with lots of fun memories 🙂

Congratulations! Now turn off your brain and sit staring blankly at a wall for a while. Then, suddenly, you’ll start having ideas about what relaxing thing you’d like to do next.

Thanks guys, you’re all right, of course 🙂

Mooiness, ya my poor brain needs it!

Cherry, we could go to Margaret River, but I don’t know if we want to break the bank at the moment.. and who would look after Baubles the Cat?

jl, nice to see you 🙂 and thanks 🙂

Sirexkat, spare definitions, huh.. how’s this for the wiki: “a website where anyone can edit anything anytime they want”. That’s from Will Richardson‘s latest book, Blogs, wikis, podcasts, and other powerful web tools for classrooms(As for the blog, I can’t seem to think of anything that doesn’t go along the lines of the best thing since sliced bread at the moment, so I’ll have to come back to it 😉 ) Meme of the week.. hmm.. I haven’t seen anything in particular that qualifies…

Toxic Purity and Iris, I reckon I will be brain dead for a couple more days and then find something good to do 🙂
