I doubt he’d ever see this response, or even care if he did – and if he did my use of my dog to illustrate my post would probably confirm his disdain: for who am I, a non-expert, to query his expertise – and using a fluffy picture no less.

Is it just me or does Michael Gorman only value the words of a very narrow range of “experts”? And when he talks about “alternatives to Western medicine” is he suggesting that Western pharmaceuticals and hospitals are the only true medicine? That’s just one point that rankled.

I’m sorry, Mr Gorman. You have made an important contribution to librarianship, but your writings in this area smack of elitism to me.

Hmmm… he seems to have his blinkers on doesn’t he – MG I mean. Paco doesn’t – he’s bright eyed and busy tailed (metaphorically of course).

Sweeping generalisations are poor scholarship no matter what their tone; when combined with lofty superiority they make me want to do something childish like stick my tongue out at the person! Paco’s response is the most appropriate I think.

Penny, definitely blinkers – or distorting glasses on, or something!

Sheena yes it was satisfying to say “boo” in response 😉
