I didn’t say anything at the time, but seeing my little nephew’s “Kindy Star” award proudly displayed on the family fridge, which said “Your a star“, really depressed me. It had been written and signed by his teacher. I dunno, I just expected the teacher to be able to spell the phrase “You’re” correctly. He won the award for “working really hard”.
His sisters showed me the fairies they’ve been designing on a website called Disneyfairies. Apparently you have to create an account on this site, which then allows you to name a fairy and pick her clothes and decide on her general appearance. Both girls said they just typed any old thing to create their accounts, “cos it doesn’t matter”! While I was pondering the state of children’s drawing these days (where you need a colour printer instead of colour pencils), the girls restored my faith somewhat – they have gone further with their fairies, and have handwritten birth certificates for each of their fairies, complete with information on each fairy’s favourite food and abilities.

That *is* truly depressing. I wonder if anyone will be able to spell in a couple of generations’ time.
I wonder if next generations will lose the ability to write by hand and read handwriting!
Oh no… and oh so frequently true. I’ve seen it in Tim’s journal from day care too.
Oh dear. I must admit to proof reading the things that come home from school…lol (yes I know, I need to get a life!)
