St Expeditus

St Expeditus

When I saw this card in the Central Catholic Bookshop (Melbourne) I just knew I had to get it*. This is St Expeditus, the patron saint invoked against procrastination. Not much is known about him, apparently, but for all that he is also the patron saint of emergencies, financial success, prompt solutions, merchants, computer programmers, and e-commerce (source).

He’s my saint for the moment. Need I say more?

*NB: Although I am a lapsed Catholic/unbeliever, I still have an inexplicable fondness for the imagery of the Catholic church. (Just the imagery, mind.) I dunno, there’s something about the bleeding hearts and outstretched hands that appeals.

He’s kind of sweet.

Who’s the one for librarians again. Someone who got BBQ’d isn’t it?

Apparently there are not one, but three patron saints for librarians! St Lawrence was the one who died on a grill (gruesome!).

Always like the picture of St Teresa my Grandmother gave me, for much the same reasons and of course, because she gave it to me!
