Rants

Read these two excellent rants this morning:

danah boyd on her horror experience with United Airline. Like danah, I too am “loyal to those companies who I feel treat me with respect and I hold long grudges against those that appear to enjoy screwing me.” (Don’t ever ask me about the National Australia Bank.)

John Kirriemuir on the stupid media coverage of the Large Hadron Collider. I think I will stick to reading about coverage in such publications as the New Scientist and ScienceBlogs 😉 (I don’t know, but if the world was really going to end, is angsting* over it really the thing to do? I think I’d rather do something along these lines.)

I’d love to express myself as well as danah and John. I’ve written a fair amount over the last few days (that paper! we do have an extension, thankfully), and looking at it I think I need to resurrect the aim I once had, of using this blog to improve my writing skills.

* Can the word angst be a verb?

Hmmm…angsting isn’t in the SOED though I suspect it’s only a matter of time as it seems to be creeping into regular use. I know I’ve been using it for years and gave up angsting about it long ago.
