I always say I don’t make new year’s resolutions, but I always seem to have resolution-like thoughts at this time of the year. The whole “brand new year” feel has that effect on me, I guess.
This year, I seem to have a lot of things I want to do:
- read more non-fiction and poetry (already mentioned this)
- write more – blog, journal, work-related reflection
- incorporate more exercise into my routine
- draw. As a child I used to draw a lot. Somewhere along the way I stopped.
- cook more. Fallen off the healthy eating wagon lately…

Sounds great. Good on you, especially the drawing – that’s lovely.
My son has a girlfriend who I was able to give a sketchbook to for a Christmas gift (with a fancy cover) – I would love to be more confident about drawing, it’s a great thing to be able to do.
My January usually evaporates quite quickly into birthday prep – four of us in about three weeks. Ridiculous. After that I take a holiday and try to remember what I wanted to get done this year…
