- Friends at work. People to commiserate with, to cry with, to laugh with, and who generally make work a good place to be.
- Colleagues to learn from. And hoo boy have I been learning a lot this week. Mainly about my weaknesses, which is not so pleasant, but hey, I’d rather be able to identify for myself what I need to improve, than be swanning around, ignorant.
- Being able to learn. Is this too abstract a “thing” to be grateful for? Well, I am grateful that I continue to have an interest in the world around me, and having the motivation to improve myself.
- Our chihuahuas. I know they are not everyone’s cup of tea, but our two are so affectionate and have such an enjoyment of life you can’t help but feel happy around them. (I’m sure I have already said this before, too, but I am grateful for them, so…)
- Tea. Been drinking a bit of this lately. I have needed the caffeine!

I really like this feature, so it’s my number one:
1. CW’s thankfulness meme.
2. Antigone Kefala’s Sydney Journals, which have pulled me away from a self-improving stint reading history which was slowly driving me quite bonkers.
3. Thankful that the 7-foot island bench at the in-laws beach house which collapsed the other day when I was putting grocery items into the cupboards underneath, did not fall on my foot/feet.
4. Glad to be home! where I am sufficiently deluded enough to believe all is secure (heh!)
5. St. Hubert’s Merlot (about 2006?)
Thanks, genevieve 🙂 I’m really enjoying writing this. Have to stop myself writing something everyday (lest it diminish the effect – I just think on my feeling of gratitude, briefly, then get on with whatever I am doing).
Antigone Kefala’s Sydney Journals sound intriguing – are you going to blog about your reading?
I am very glad the bench did not collapse on your feet, too! Yikes!
Home is good. Wine, mmmmm (especially with a nice meal).
Mine this week:
1. Having a flexible workplace
2. Swimming pool on campus- it’s small but great and yesterday I had my first lunchtime swim (I always go after work or weekends)
3. Kids that can look after themselves now that they are older.
4. A roster for cooking which means I haven’t cooked since Sunday
5. Friends who are organising camping for me
Like Genevieve I would also like to thank CW for this meme. I too am enjoying it.
So here’s mine for this week:
1. CW and her meme
2. my mpow for sending me to Info Online next week
3. a fairly mild Brisbane summer, no extreme temps here yet
4. the Internet
5. that my life is going really well, I am happier now in my early 30’s than ever before.
Think I will blog the journals, yes, if only in passing. Still can’t quite believe the cabinets didn’t fall on somebody – imagine a toddler trying to get a toy out from underneath, for example (there is a gap between the legs and the floor)…at least we had a houseful of older people to deal with the situation.
Kate, I am jealous of that cooking roster.
