Fountain pens (the state of play)

I didn’t know the post office delivers on Saturdays! Someone dropped off a package for me this morning. It was most unexpected, and very pleasing, to have this delivered.

A steel pen stand, from Melbourne Vintage Pens.

These are my favourite pens. Above (left to right): Pilot 78G with a F (Fine) nib, Namiki Vanishing Point (I have F, Medium and Broad nibs for this pen), Pelikan M450, Pelikan M200, Parker Sonnet (F Nib), Lamy 2000 (also F nib), and the odd one out – not a fountain pen – a Uranus 2018 Multifunction brush pen.

These pens here I have bought from Melbourne Vintage Pens over the past couple of years. Three vintage and three modern – from left to right: Parker 51 (M nib), Wahl Eversharp with F semi-flexible nib, 1943 Parker Vacumatic (F semi-flexible nib), Parker Sonnet (M nib, most recent acquisition – this arrived today with the stand), Parker Frontier (M nib) and Sheaffer Prelude (F nib). The silver Parker Sonnet in the middle picture also came from Melbourne Vintage Pens.

You may have guessed that I am partial to Fine nibs.

Twelve fountain pens and one brush pen here. I suspect most people wouldn’t have this many pens lying around.

I am definitely linking to this post. Great pictures!! and what a collection. I think I’ll have to check out that stand or something like it, my son would love it.

I have pen envy.

I am a self confessed pen junkie – adore them and have them everywhere but most of mine are not of your calibre. Do have a stunning gold one that belonged to my grandfather…but I just look at it 🙂

I think of you sometimes when I pass The Penn Shoppe…Have you read The Pyjama Girls of Lambert Square? It’s a beautifully written modern romance, and the hero is a guy who takes over a pen/stationery shop, which specialises in antique pens.

Stimulus pen: longer story for another day (or blog post) 🙂

OMG I love your pens! I love pens but fountain pens – I was given a green Parker fountain pen (model not remembered) when I was about 13 but did I love that pen. I have a trip to Melbourne coming up in July and I will definitely be putting Melbourne Vintage Pens on my ‘to do’ list

Do visit! I have never done so, only ever bought and communicated with the proprietor, Peter Ford, online. He is a gentleman, very good to deal with.
