Here’s something a little different, a meme about tv. I’m curious to see if I can actually answer these questions!
Do you snack while watching TV? The only time I watch tv is at dinner time.
What is your favourite TV show? It varies. At the moment, Breaking Bad.
What TV show makes you run to change channels? I don’t watch free-to-air tv until it’s been format- and time-shifted, so I avoid all the sorts of programmes that don’t appeal to me: “reality” tv, so-called current affairs, game shows, sport, soaps…
How do you view your TV guide: online, on-screen, newspaper, magazine, other? Um, I don’t. I never know what’s on, or when.
Have you ever been surveyed for your TV-viewing habits or do you know anyone who has been? Suelibrarian. I’ve never been.
Do you watch TV news and/or current affairs regularly? No.
Do you watch any TV “soaps”? (Truth please, even if it is embarrassing.) No.
What other series shows do you try not to miss? I am looking forward to Mad Men and True Blood.
Any previous series or shows you really liked? The Wire, Deadwood, Rome, Firefly, Buffy, all the Star Treks (nostalgia), Veronica Mars, The Bill (earlier series, pre-Eddie Santini).
Do you have pay TV or are the digital channels enough? No pay tv.
Do you only watch certain TV shows online? I watch ALL my tv from online sources.
Do you regularly use services like ABC catch-up or other online replays? Occasionally watch things on iView.
Do you ever pay any attention to the adverts? Adverts? What are those?
Do you multi-task while watching TV & if so what else are you doing? Eating. After the meal is done, cuddling chihuahuas.
Is there a TV show that makes you laugh out loud? Modern Family.
Have you ever said no to a social invitation to stay at home and watch TV? (Truth again please.) Mind telling us what the show was? I broke my tv viewing habit many years ago when I found myself not being able to do social stuff because my life revolved around the tv guide. I decided it was insane and stopped watching, cold turkey. If not for being able to download stuff now and watch at the time of my choice, I would still not be watching.
Do you record TV shows & if so why and how (VCR, DVD recorder, TIVO, laptop, etc.)? Yes. PC. We watch on a 32-inch tv that also doubles as one of M’s PC monitors.
Least favourite TV personality/actor/character? Vic Mackey from The Shield. I got to the point where I just wanted to slap him. In real life: Sam Newman, Eddie McGuire, etc.
Most popular TV personalities/actors/character? I can’t think of anyone so I’ll say Seth Bullock, the sheriff from Deadwood, for sheer sexiness being pleasant to look at.
Have you ever seen anything really memorable on TV (not news/events – made for TV drama, etc.)? This is a tough one. Maybe the recent Spartacus, for its male nudity (we’re talking the full monty here) and graphic gory violence.
Do you prefer TV series or stand-alone shows? Series.
Is there a specific show you find yourself recommending over and over? I don’t tend to recommend tv, but if I were to, it would have to be The Wire, I think.
Thanks, Mal for an interesting meme!
