1. Many people I know still don’t “get” Twitter, which I think is kind of a pity (for them). However, a few of the important people in my life are on Twitter. Y’all know who you are! [*wave*]
2. For me, it’s one of my major sources of stuff to learn about, and a major way of communicating with people who teach and support me, and who make me laugh.
3. I don’t follow many “celebrity” types, but really, some days so many of the people I follow are amazing, stars in their own right. Thank you for giving so much, for the glimpses into your lives and being yourselves.
4. I don’t care if it’s trivial, I LIKE knowing what the weather is like in London, or Toronto, or Brisbane, from someone who’s suffering/enjoying it. And learning about others’ workdays, family, illness, stress, joys, accomplishments – this is not trivial.
5. Things I get from Twitter, everyday: ideas to make my head explode, titles to add to my neverending To Read list, poetry, connections.

I find it never fails to cheer me up – it’s like a half-hour chat with a bunch of clever folk. Which means a great deal when you’re often home alone 😀
I am slowly removing myself from Twitter cos I was thinking whatever I typed in there were ‘trivial’ and silly, thank you for your post, brb =)
Agree, genevieve, lots of very clever folk on Twitter!
HOI! Your tweets are NOT trivial or silly. Please don’t leave Twitter!
Besides nothing long with balancing trivial and serious – it’s all about the community and Hoi, you’re a nice part of that community.
With my “librarian” hat on, I say I learn more from Twitter that is immediately useful than I learned during my Grad Dip.
And the other stuff is just AWESOME! I get to find out about cool stuff, get other people’s perspectives and get to know some really fantastic people.
And I don’t follow celebrities either.
I haven’t explored Twitter yet, I confess. I will make that a new year’s resolution.
Meanwhile, merry Christmas, CW!
