It’s strange how there are so many of these internet-supported, social/sharing projects one can participate in. I think they’re becoming a habit for me.
Projects (if that’s what they are) I have enjoyed this year:
Daily Image. Will I do it again next year? I haven’t decided. If I do, how to do it differently? (I am assuming I would get bored of taking self portraits.) Presumably I could find a different photography-related challenge to do. Something to challenge and develop my camera skills, perhaps?
On GoodReads, the 2011 Reading Challenge. At the start of the year you nominate the number of books you plan to read, and record your progress. I decided I’d try to maintain 2010’s figure and said I’d read 150 books. At this point, I’m at 141 books read. I’m very hopeful of achieving the target. GoodReads is an interesting site. I created an account there in 2007 but didn’t really get into using it at the time. It really wasn’t until I signed up for this challenge that it “took” for me. It’s been easy enough to do, given that I read, and record what I read, anyway, and I think I will do this one again in 2012. I’m not particularly active there apart from recording my reads, but I do occasionally leave comments on friends’ pages, and I do like seeing what people are reading. Interestingly, because I have been using GoodReads to do the recording, the notes in my paper diary and on this blog have stalled. I do love analysing and writing up my annual reads, though and will do it again in the new year.
#blogjune. This year was the second year of this Twitter-initiated, PLN-fueled project. I enjoyed it, although it seemed harder to do this year. I wonder if it will happen in 2012?
What challenges shall I set myself in 2012?
There’s this Australian Women Writers 2012 National Year of Reading Challenge, but it involves writing reviews, and I’m bad at writing them. Hmm. Perhaps a good reason to try?
What else can I do to stretch myself? Something that makes me get out more?
What are you going to do in 2012?

Daily Image – I’ve seen lots of people tweet about it, seen the photos etc. I started about a week ago so I want to complete it.
#blogjune – first timer this year. really enjoyed it.
Flickr what are you reading this year – can’t remember the project name but have posted a photo of most of the stuff i’ve been reading this year plus a comment or two. Fun to see what other people are reading.
If you want to do a photog-related project, maybe just something along the lines of “must take a pic daily”. My friend T (in Melbourne, you know, T!) did that years ago, and did it with polaroids. It was fun to flip through the polaroid collection.
