So here I am about to fly off to Helsinki, Finland for the Open Repositories conference.
I’ve not been to Helsinki before, so as you might imagine, I’m a little excited!
I’m hoping my access to the network will be okay – I have actually got any posts lined up for the next few days, as I would really rather share some of the sights of Helsinki with you. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see…
In the meantime, here’s a What’s In My Bag post:
I like travelling light – carry on luggage only – so this is one of my two bags. This is the bag that will go under the seat and that will have all the stuff I need to keep my entertained during the flight, or that I want to have easy access to. The other bag has some clothes and my Macbook Air in it and will go in the overhead compartment.
If you look closely you might notice that yes, I have got myself some noise-cancelling headphones after all. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions and advice 🙂 I ended up with some Sony ones, mainly because the shop I went to only had them in stock. I was quite happy though, as they were also going at 20% off the regular price. I’ll let you know how I go with them.
My preferred entertainments on flights are classical music and something engrossing to read. So with the iPad, ereader and paper book, I think I’m covered. I hope I manage to get some sleep overnight!
See you on the other side – hopefully with tales of long flights and first impressions of Helsinki!

Happy landings!
Travel safe!
Looking forward to see you. Helsinki is great!
