Happy Birthday, Weblog!

The word weblog is ten years old today! I learned this from Scoble, who links to an article listing Jorn Barger’s Ten Tips for Novice Bloggers. (Jorn Barger is the person who coined the word weblog.)

Barger’s second tip is interesting:

2. You can certainly include links to your original thoughts, posted elsewhere … but if you have more original posts than links, you probably need to learn some humility.

I guess this comes from Barger’s style of blogging – posting links – blogs have evolved over the last ten years, and no doubt will continue to evolve. As Scoble says:

Truth is that this form of communication is still in its infancy. Imagine talking about newspapers just 10 years after they were developed and thinking “this is it, no more to do.” Yeah, right.

I wonder if/how I’ll be blogging ten years hence!
