Awesome

Awesome is the word that was in my mind when I woke up this morning.

Not sure why, exactly, but maybe because:

1. Today is a public holiday. Hooray!
2. It’s a glorious day. The sun is shining, the sky is the bluest blue and I can hear kookaburras.
3. One of my brothers-in-law used the word to describe me in response to my helping him get a journal article he needed for study.
4. The April Blogging From A-Z Challenge starts today.

Do I really need another challenge? Well the Google Reader – Goodreads scenario has made me rethink my approach to social media. (Privacy, product, free as in speech, free as in beer, I’m still thinking about this, have no answers!)

In the meantime I would like to go back to my beginnings – and given that this blog played a big part in helping me get into the online world, I want to put more energy here again. The fact that this is a space I control for myself is also quite appealing.

Anyway, more on the challenge: it’s all about blogging daily in April (with Sundays off), using the A-Z thing to get you started. You can have themes (movies A-Z, etc) but I think I will just try and free associate around words. I learned about the challenge through Damyanti, whose blog I have been reading via Google Reader for some years now. (Oh, how am I going to keep track of all those blogs sans Google Reader??)
