You know how when you decide to learn something new and you have to start all over again and forget your preconceptions or expectations and ideas and just be open to learning? I’ve been attending a drawing class and it’s been refreshing to try to really listen to what the teacher says, and observe and try things and just see where it takes you. Time goes so fast in class – you do the work and suddenly three hours have passed.
I am definitely learning new techniques and skills. Some weeks feel harder than others. Must keep practising.
Excuse the terrible lighting and the crinkled paper and the wonky drawings.

Looks pretty good to me. I am also pleased that you have started using Flickr again as it remains my favourite place to store and share my photos.
I decided I didn’t want to upload all my photos to my blog space, and Instagram is too restrictive, so Flickr was an easy choice.
Righto. Next time I am in Perth, I am dragging you along to Drink and Draw at the Local Hotel in South Freo. https://www.thelocalhotel.com.au/quiz .
I’ve been a couple of times, using pastels, and with an old nappy slung over my shoulder to catch the dust and wipe my hands.
I was thinking of trying my iPad next time, but then COVID…
The best bit is seeing the Facbook page afterward where people post their versions of what you have focussed on so carefully to draw during the evening.
Yes let me know the next time you’re back this way 🙂
I’m learning to roller skate. I’m not a quick learner with this. It’s been years since I tried to learn something I’m not able to learn quickly. It’s been a great way to remind me to be patient with others. The people training me are sensitive and supportive and use gender inclusive pronouns, and positivity moments, and careful patient repetition of each step. This would make me impatient in so many scenarios but it works so well for learning something you don’t believe you can do. I’m learning to take risks.
Ooo roller skating, eh? That’s not something I am keen to learn to do because of my super dodgy ankles but I can see how learning this would be good for exercising your beginner’s mind…
