This drawing almost didn’t happen today – it was cold in Perth this morning and I didn’t want to get out of bed! I started it before work and finished it at lunch time.
I much prefer Flickr for posting these pictures. It’s much easier to look at a picture’s details on Flickr than it is on Instagram. I’m still posting these pictures on Instagram, though, and currently have the strange situation of posting on three social media platforms – Instagram, Flickr and Twitter – four if you count this blog. A few of my friends on Instagram are also on Twitter and so know about this blog – but most are newer friends/acquaintances whom I’ve met via Instagram and don’t know me outside that platform. It’s weird how siloed things can get.
Lately I’ve been thinking about what I want to do after this month. Continue posting here? I do like recording a few thoughts about my drawing process here.
And then there’s the huge number of ads on Instagram. The ads bug me. I feel like looking at ads – even if I don’t pay much attention to most of them and scroll past – is taking up attention I don’t want to give. I can avoid ads in other platforms but they’re so embedded into Instagram it’s much harder. There’s no way to get rid of ads in Instagram – apart from reducing my time there. Am I being precious?

Just use Flickr!!
🙂
No you are not being pre ious. It annoys me too. I especially feel like ads disrupt my creative thoughts. However Instagram is such a broad audience that I stay on it for the many I follow there who I would otherwise not see.
Yes, that’s the problem – Instagram is so ubiquitous these days. And for all its annoying points, I do like many of the friends I’ve made there.
