Development

This year we have had a number of occasions when we have been required to wear face masks. Each time this happened I recorded things by drawing what I saw or felt.

It’s very interesting to see how my drawings have developed since February. I found it quite challenging to draw this version of me below.

First experience of wearing face masks: so uncomfortable

And then when the lockdown in February ended I drew this next drawing. I found it quite difficult to draw and took some time to work on it. You can see the smudges I made with my hand – I’ve since started covering my paper where my hand rests, with other paper, to try and minimise smudging. I can also see my mistakes, bits where I would do things quite differently now.

Hooray: when the mask requirement was lifted

And then we had to wear masks again. I was starting to do a bit of shading.

I kind of like drawing people wearing face masks

And again.

I think I was reflecting on how compliant Perth people are: when told to wear face masks, we wear face masks

And today.

I’m amazed – and chuffed, if I’m honest – to see how my drawing has developed over just a few months. Turns out there’s really is something to be said for doing something everyday. This really encourages me to keep going.

Great progression. Great compliance 😃
