Pelikan M800

A new pen arrived yesterday. Meet my new Pelikan M800, pictured here with a few other pens in my collection.

Colours
From left: Danitrio maki-e, Pelikan M800, Pelikan M450, Pelikan M200, Parker Vacumatic, Parker 51.

The Danitrio maki-e is the most expensive pen I own. The pen’s body is handpainted – Maki-e, a Japanese technique involving lacquer.

Yesterday I was complaining about Australia Post on Twitter. I have been waiting a little while for the M800 to arrive from Melbourne. I now have three Pelikans. This is a German brand that I love. The nibs are superb to write with, super smooth.

Even if you’re not insane pen crazy like I am you have probably heard of Parker pens? I have a number of different Parker pens. The Vacumatic is the second oldest pen I own; it’s older than me, 1946 I believe. My Parker 51 is rather battered and smells old (this one is a 1950s one I think). Even though I like the smell of my Parker 51, I may see if I can get another one in the future, depending on what my dealer can supply.
